We run the accounts function for Australian businesses turning over between $2m – $20m+ with a team of over 30 accountants and offices in Melbourne and Jaipur, India. We are currently seeking a Client Manager and Business Partner to join our growing team.

About the role

In this position you will run our service delivery to a small group of clients, and be their primary finance advisor. You will be responsible for:

  • Financial Control Services – managing small client teams usually of 2 – 4 staff in Australia and India, you’ll be required to structure, establish and then oversee the provision of financial control services to businesses turning over $2m – $20m+.
  • Financial Insight Services – providing advisory services to clients, assisting to develop or understand their strategy, building financial forecasts and providing ongoing analysis and reporting with a strong future focus aimed at helping leaders achieve their business goals.
  • Client Management and Practice Development – proactively identifying ways to deliver value to clients, while ensuring our work is sustainable and profitable. As a senior team member, contributing to practice development projects and initiatives.

About you

You are a great accountant or bookkeeper, completely confident with the balance sheet, accruals, prepayments, capitalised leases, fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules, intercompany loans and transactions, setting up and maintaining systems integrations, designing clean and clear workpapers and spotting errors before they create problems.

With that level of technical mastery, you’re comfortable overseeing others and working at a higher level, optimising systems and technology and inventing clever hacks and workarounds to delight process customers and make things come together smoothly day to day and month to month.

You have 10+ years of experience and are ready to focus on performance accounting, becoming a trusted adviser to business leaders. You are happy to work with and help develop Slate’s Insight Services Delivery Model, leveraging our team, systems and processes to add even more value to our clients.

With strong communication skills, an ability to pick things up with ease and build instant rapport, you will be approachable and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement where your aptitude for problem solving will quickly create value for your clients and, through knowledge sharing, contribute to the development of the staff you supervise.

You will have an accounting degree and likely other accounting qualifications. Registered BAS agents would be highly regarded.

The role is full time and we’re hoping you’ll want to work from our South Yarra offices 2 – 3 days a week.
